Load in Hazelton Pa Deliver Thursday in Reed City MI. 1350 paid miles.ĭeadhead from Mountain Top Pa. Here's a recap of what I have done since my last post.ĭeadhead from Jupiter Fl to Griffin Ga. No problem, they pay for it and I'll use it! The company wants us to use Idle Aire as much as possible to cut down on idleing. Sorry for not updating until now, I finally have some time until I deliver tomorrow in the AM so as I write I'm hooked up to Idle Aire at the TA at exit 173 on I-80 in PA. Thanks for reading this, I've posted a picture of my new set of wheels. One last thing, this forum we have helped me in so many ways, there are a few people on here who's insight, and expertise I truly appreciate and because of it, it made this process for me much easier. I'll be glad to answer any questions anyone might have and I'll try and keep this updated during my travels. I guess working for a smaller company like Calex (156 trucks) that isn't a driver mill or a training company you get treated like a person and not a number. Granted 4 days does not make a relationship, but ever since I answered the ad for a driver, everything that was said to me has been straight up and everyone I have met at the company has been very nice and welcoming to their "Family". This is # at dispatch, sorry to bother you on your home time, but we have a load that needs to P/U Monday evening in Georgia and delivers here in Pittston on Wednesday" Me, "not a problem, I'll be there. I got a phone call from dispatch on Saturday morning that went something like this, "Hello John? Yes. ![]() I had a live load that delivered in Jupiter Fl Friday morning # 10am and was sent 15 miles away to the house for the weekend. I went through the usual Policies and Procedures Tuesday and Wednesday then got dispatched on my first load late that afternoon. Then when I got to the terminal I found out that I'm the only driver that they hired and that orientation was me and Mort. I was picked up at the airport by Mort in Safety and dropped my belongings off at the motel. I finally got the green light on July 31st to come to Pittston for orientation. I then asked about transportation to Pittston PA and was told that they would fly me up and put me in a motel. ![]() When that was done I was sent to a clinic near where I live for my DOT physical and drug screening. When I asked about orientation I was told that they would arrange for a driver that was delivering down here to give me my road test. My DAC came back with absolutely nothing on it. During this time I was told I had the job. and the verification process took the rest of the week. and that was why the ad was on craigslist. As I have found out, they do not advertise for drivers, everything is via word of mouth, they had a distinct need for a driver that was domiciled in So. Tuesday morning at 9am I get a phone call from Mort in the safety dept. I responded to this job via email on a Monday night. With my previous job about to end I was getting desperate enough to call Werner but was afraid I would be turned down due to being over-qualified. They hire from Orlando north but not here. Now you have to understand, there isn't a company worth it's weight in gold that hires out of So. In June I was looking on craigslist and saw an ad for a driver needed in So. So in the last 27 years I've had a total of 3 jobs, no accidents, 3 tickets, and left each job with a positive recommendation for my job history. ![]() When the O/O sold his business I went to work for a small mom and pop company that had 2 trucks and drove for them until June of this year. After that I drove for an O/O the next 9 years. I always had the urge to drive OTR and got the chance with CR England back in 1982 and drove for them for 7 years. Here's a little bit about me, I got my class 1 chauffeurs license back in 1980 and drove a dump trailer for 2 years in Florida. and games that are prevalent in our industry today. This might be a little long winded but this job search started back in January and finally concluded with me being hired without all the B.S. Well if anyone is interested I will tell you all about my new job. ![]() 5/8/2023 0 Comments Portal reloaded 22![]() Remove the portal keeping the future cube in place, and the platform will rise because the laser is no longer blocked. Make sure that the cube is placed directly above the large ground button, then step on the first platform. Bring the future cube through the portal and place it in front of the laser, blocking its path. There’s an obvious portal located on the wall above the button area, surrounded by non-portal surfaces. Next, use portals to bring the light bridge to the laser at the top of the room. Place the newly acquired cube on the ground where there’s a portal surface, then go to the future and bring its future self back to the present. Go back to the present, and the conditions are ready to go and grab the cube. This is where the player will create their platform, so fire the portal gun at the wall next to the button and make a time portal at the very end perpendicular to where the light bridge is. Then, create a time portal anywhere and go to the future. If it’s too far, the cube will bounce in the water. Make sure the portal on the ceiling is as close to the button’s left side as possible so the cube will bounce off it and land on the light bridge. It’s necessary for this cube to be grabbed in the present so its future version can be brought back, so begin by creating the cube-saving barrier in the present. Thanks to time travel, this is possible, as there is a light bridge present in the present and the future. This means that two light bridges are needed, one for the player to walk on to reach the button, and one to save the cube. ![]() There’s a spot on the ceiling in front of the cube’s trajectory where a portal can be placed, and sending a light bridge there will create a barrier that saves the cube from being fried. Pressing it will cause a testing cube to fall from the roof, but it will fall onto an aerial faith plate that launches it right into an emancipation grill, vaporizing it instantly. It’s unreachable unless a light bridge is there to serve as a platform. On the right of the chamber, there’s a button across the water. The goal of this chamber is to lower both platforms so the player can use them to elevate themselves to the exit. One is lowered by placing weight on the large ground button, while the other is kept up by a reticle that's powered by a laser near the ceiling. ![]() Upon first entering the chamber, the test subject will notice two platforms that lead to the exit. ![]() 5/8/2023 0 Comments Buildbox backgrounds![]() Zack’s passion for Buildbox is rooted in the platform’s ability to remove barriers to entry. We spoke to Garmin’s Jay Moncel about the number of Garmin watches we saw in the fighter pilot community at Miramar and why pilots may be wearing them. So, significant discounting to military pilots does not seem to be a motivating factor behind the number of Garmin watches we saw at Miramar. There is at least one online, military-only outlet that sells Garmin at a minor discount to military consumers who prove military membership, but the discounts amount to only 5-10% off retail prices, and not all Garmin models are available at these promotional prices. Garmin, as a brand, does not offer significant discounts to military members. An F/A-18 Hornet pilot at MCAS Miramar wearing a Garmin watch. Among the other pilot communities such as the F/A-18, numbers were split pretty evenly between Garmin and Casio’s military themed G-Shock line of durable watches first designed by Kikuo Ibe of Casio in 1981. In fact, the proliferation of Garmin smart watches among the F-35 community we saw at Miramar was so prevalent, it caused us to wonder if there may be a reason so many F-35 pilots seem to be wearing a Garmin watch. Garmin and G-Shock were the two prevalent brands among fighter pilots in our informal survey at Miramar, with every F-35 Joint Strike Fighter pilot we saw wearing a Garmin wrist top GPS enabled smartwatch. Of the nearly 40 pilots whose wrist watches we got a good look at while visiting MCAS Miramar, the birthplace of TOPGUN, we saw two brands dominant among pilots flying the F/A-18 Hornet in several variants and the new F-35B and F-35A Joint Strike Fighter. A pair of USAF F-35A pilots ride in a golf cart after landing at MCAS Miramar. What we found there was interesting.īeware, it’s not a complete research, it’s just an assessment based on what we have observed there. At MCAS Miramar we took a brief, informal survey of which wrist watches fighter pilots were wearing. And when the plane goes fast through the air, it warms up due to friction – like when you rub your hands together fast. But what watches do fighter pilots really wear in the real world? They may also wear another suit to protect them from chemicals and other dangerous things.Īll this kit and clothing can make a fighter pilot pretty hot. To help with this, fighter pilots also wear special trousers that squeeze their legs tightly when they go round bends – this keeps the blood pumping up to their brain, to stop them from fainting: trust me, you don’t want to faint when flying a fast jet.įast jet pilots may also have to wear a flying suit, a life jacket and an “immersion suit” – that’s a suit which keeps you warm and dry, if you end up in the sea. That means they feel nine times heavier, which can be very unpleasant and would make most people black out. ![]() But when fighter jets make fast turns and rolls, the pilot can experience up to 9G (by comparison, roller coasters only produce 3-6G). ![]() Standing on Earth, humans experience gravity at 1G (that’s one times the acceleration due to gravity). The mask is linked up to a system that can provide extra oxygen if anything goes wrong – after all, there’s less oxygen in the air when you’re flying very high, and humans need plenty of oxygen to breathe properly. One thing they have to wear is a helmet to protect their head, and a mask with a microphone. Can you imagine being sick, while wearing a mask and flying a plane at 1,000 miles an hour? That’s why fighter pilots have to be checked and trained to make sure they don’t get air sick.įast jet pilots also have to wear lots of special clothes to protect them in different situations.
